Why Study Earth Science?
|
You will be introduced to science literacy, an integral part of science education. We will interpret and analyze a song and video by Disturbed titled "Another Way to Die", as it relates to environmental science. The HEAVY rock song may make you want to change the station, but the meaning beneath the guitar riffs is extremely important and relates to our everyday life! This video will lead us into a discussion on why we are studying earth science.

The Scientific Method... (again)
How much do you remember about the scientific method and experimental design? You will be given an experimental question relating to sponge animals and their rate of "growth". You must create a hypothesis, choose your own variables, and perform an experiment to test your hypothesis. You will be recording your data and analyzing your results, so we can have a class discussion on the scientific method and how to design experiments. Lastly, we will relate this short experiment to earth science and the field of science, in general!
Remember to check out and read the pdf files that I share with you for extra practice! They are too large to fit on the website.
